Devils Daily: Jack Hughes’ Health Dispute; Reilly Smith Back to Vegas?

Published

New Jersey Devils

The New Jersey Devils hit the ice this afternoon for a Saturday matinee with the Montreal Canadiens. They will not have a skate before 2 PM game time. Head coach Lindy Ruff is set to speak with the media ahead of puck drop at noon.

In the links, the Devils will need Jack Hughes to be his very best with the playoff clock ticking. Is he healthy enough to carry his team, however?

From Thursday, if you’re looking for firther discipline for New York Rangers forward Matt Rempe, don’t hold your breath.

Elsewhere, could Pittsburgh return a forward back to Vegas by the March 8th trade deadline? Would Nashville extend a huge offer sheet this summer? And why Arizona waived a former Calgary Flames center.

Let’s do that hockey.

Devils News

New Jersey Hockey Now: Jack Hughes was the Devils’ lone goal scorer against the New York Rangers on Thursday. However, the Devils superstar hasn’t quite been himself lately. Is Hughes 100% healthy? Jack and Lindy Ruff answered the question very differently.

More NJHN: Who knows what is and isn’t deemed a penalizable offense by the NHL Department of Player Safety anymore? Over 24 hours later, Rangers forward Matt Rempe hasn’t been fined or summoned for a hearing for his illegal check on Devils Nathan Bastian. Nor is one coming.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

The Athletic ($): Uh-oh. Winnipeg Jets ownership has sounded the alarms over attendance issues at the Canada Life Center. ‘Not going to work over the long haul’

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Are the stars aligning for the Pittsburgh Penguins to send Reilly Smith back to the Vegas Golden Knights? Is goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic available by the Pens for trade leading up to the deadline?

Philly Hockey Now: The tradition of former Philadelphia Flyers players succeeding elsewhere continues, this time overseas in Russia’s KHL where Jordan Weal has made history.

Calgary Hockey Now: In the wake of a self-shot video hitting the internet of Adam Ruzicka taking what appears to be illegal drugs, the Arizona Coyotes have waived the former Calgary Flames center to terminate his contract.

Nashville Hockey Now: Summer is a bit of aways away at this point of the season, however, the Nashville Predators need to be well prepared. At the risk of sounding ever crazier than when summer was last mentioned, the Predators could have the opportunity to do something big this offseason — offer sheet Elias Pettersson.
