Devils Daily: Sinking Themselves; the Truth About Johansen’s Injury Revealed

New Jersey Devils

Well, the weekend was certainly a disappointing one for the New Jersey Devils.

Seemingly, no one wants to grab the available spots in the Eastern Conference wildcard race. The Detroit Red Wings continue to lose, the New York Islanders are on a four-game losing streak after they won six straight, the Washington Capitals are climbing a bit, and the Pittsburgh Penguins remain inconsistent.

The Devils had an opportunity to bottle the momentum from Thursday’s victory over the Dallas Stars and bring it into the weekend to propel themselves in the standings. Instead, they were handed two losses at the hands of the Arizona Coyotes and Vegas Golden Knights.

Sigh.

Ahead of a busy week, the Devils will be off today. They’ll play four games over the next six days with a handful of winnable games at home. Yet, we have little to no reason to believe the Devils will grab those points. We’ll see how things shake out.

In the links, yesterday’s superb efforts from Jake Allen weren’t enough to buoy the Devils.

Elsewhere, top NCAA free agents, Pittsburgh’s blue line construction issues, and the truth about Ryan Johansen’s injury amid a trade.

Let’s do that hockey.
