Devils Daily: Jake Allen, Savior? Patrick Roy Unhappy With Ilya Sorokin
Jake Allen, the New Jersey Devils’ savior?
I mean, he’s now strung together three starts in a row with a .944 SV% or above and has made 4.69 saves above expected as a Devil.
Has anyone other goaltender in New Jersey been able to say the same of themselves? I think not.
The Devils’ acquisition of Allen was an afterthought. No one blinked twice when he was acquired and, in fact, some even laughed at general manager Tom Fitzgerald “settling” for him in his pursuit of Jacob Markstrom.
Now that Allen doesn’t have to split the net three ways, perhaps he’s better than most believed, and he’s certainly filled the Devils’ locker room with confidence.
In the links, why New Jersey should lean on their newest goaltender for the rest of the way, their victory over Pittsburgh with him in net, and a Devils prospect takes home some BIG honors.
Elsewhere, the Isles’ head coach is vocal about his goaltenders’ struggles, Philly healthy scratches their captain, and a tribute to the late Chris Simon
Let’s do that hockey.
