NHL Announces New Amazon Streaming Starting in 2024-25, How it Effects Devils Viewers
Prime Monday Night Hockey will stream all national regular season Monday night NHL games in English for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 NHL seasons.
The National Hockey League announced on Thursday a milestone two-year agreement between Amazon, Rogers Communications, and the NHL in Canada to bring hockey fans Monday night NHL hockey exclusively on Prime Video. The agreement will have a limited effect on Canadian, Australian, and New Zealand New Jersey Devils viewers.
According to the press release, “Prime Monday Night Hockey will stream all national regular season Monday night NHL games in English for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 NHL seasons. The deal is the NHL’s first exclusive national broadcast package with a digital-only streaming service in Canada. The Prime Monday Night Hockey package, produced by Prime Video, will feature a new broadcast team offering in-depth analysis and play-by-play coverage, and stream live exclusively to Prime members in Canada.”
How it Affects Devils Viewers
If you’re a United States viewer, this won’t affect how you view your Devils content. However, to our 100,000-plus readers between Canada, Australia, and New Zealand in 2023 and 2024, we figured this might pique your interest.
If you’re a Devils fan in any of the aforementioned, this will work similarly to how it does when the Devils play on ESPN. If the Devils are playing on a Monday night that is nationally televised in Canada, Amazon will be your source to view your favorite players such as Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, or Timo Meier that night.
Via the release, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Amazon and Rogers on this project. Amazon has a strong track record of presenting sports on Prime Video in a highly innovative and viewer-friendly manner,” said David Proper, NHL Senior Executive Vice President, Media & International Strategy. “We are committed to serving hockey fans and reaching new audiences with our robust content distribution strategy that brings viewers exciting NHL content to a multitude of streaming services. With this groundbreaking partnership, we are continuing to stay true to that goal.”
When the 2024-25 NHL schedule is released, be sure to mark your calendars for which Mondays you’ll need to view via Amazon before you pull out your hair trying to find the right channel.
