The New Jersey Devils should be well represented in the upcoming 4 Nations Faceoff tournament in February. On Monday afternoon, it was revealed the Devils forward Jesper Bratt and goaltender Jacob Markstrom will represent Team Sweden, and forward Erika Haula will play for Team Finland.

The first six players for each country were announced in June, shortly after the revelation of the tournament.

The initial six players named to Team Sweden were defensemen Victor Hedman, Erik Karlsson, and Gustav Forsling, as well as forwards Filip Forsberg, Mika Zibanejad, and William Nylander.

For Team Finland, the first six players were goaltender Juuse Saros, defensemen Esa Lindell and Miro Heiskanen, and forwards Sasha Barkov, Mikko Rantanen, and Sebastian Aho.

Bratt was a shoo-in to play for Sweden at the upcoming 4 Nations Faceoff. The Devils forward leads all NHL Swede’s in points to date this season with 11 goals and 31 points in 27 games. He’s also the Devils’ season points leader thus far, slightly edging out Jack Hughes who has 30 points (9g, 21a).

Bratt has also been one of the NHLs most productive Swedish players, accruing 73 points or more since the 2020-21 season. The Devils forward registered a career-high 83 points (27g, 56a) in 2023-24, and is on pace to shatter his previous record, scoring at a 94-point pace this season.

Markstrom joins a goaltending trio that includes Linus Ullmark and Filip Gustavsson.

The Devils goaltender is 11-6-1 in 2024-25, accruing a 9.02 SV% and 2.62 GAA.

Team Finland has plenty of firepower in players such as Rantanen, Barkov, and Aho. However, Haula—much like his role on the Devils—is the perfect support player who can be relied on in all three zones.

Through 27 games thus far, the Finnish Devils forwards collected five goals and 11 points in 27 games. One of Haula’s greatest strengths is in the faceoff circle. He’s accrued a career 52.7 faceoff win percentage, and has had back-to-back strong years, winning 54.8% of draws in each of the last two seasons.

The NHL is expected to release the rosters for Team USA and Team Canada later Wednesday evening.

Instead of the 4 nations being a regular thing they need to do a Europe vs North America series.
