Newark, NJ – Maybe New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald started a trend. Funny enough, that trend might continue to make itself present with his involvement. On Saturday we learned some more pending UFAs might be traded. The upcoming free agency class is already considered to be a weak one. It could become even weaker before we get to July 1st. Usually, that means the pending UFA returns to their club. This offseason, however, it’s looking like quite the opposite.

New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Hockey Now: Now that Damon Severson is a member of the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Devils are going to need to address a successor. Maybe that comes via free agency, maybe it comes from within. If the latter, the Devils have a prospect in Simon Nemec who just might be ready to make that leap.

The Athletic: Pierre LeBrun reported on Saturday that the Devils could shop the rights to pending UFAs Miles Wood and Ryan Graves next. New Jersey Hockey Now was able to corroborate the report, confirming that multiple teams have in fact inquired with Fitzgerald regarding their interest to acquire the rights of Graves.

Daily Sentinel: In an interview with the Daily Sentinel, Ben Birnell reports that the Utica Comets have informed him that Devils prospect goaltender Nico Daws received surgery and will be out for an extended period of time.

Stanley Cup Final

Vegas Golden Knights win Game 4, 3-2 Florida Panthers

Vegas Hockey Now: Last night might have been the last game played in Florida in the series. The Vegas Golden Knights took a 3-1 series lead and are now one win away from claiming Lord Stanley. Leading 3-0 heading into the third period, the Florida Panthers clawed back to make it a 3-2 game but Vegas held on despite a chaotic final minute.

Florida Hockey Now: From the Panthers’ perspective, late-game efforts from Brandon Montour and Sasha Barkov weren’t enough. The Panthers are now heading back to Vegas with the series on the line and are at risk to become the runner-ups of the 2022-23 season.

Boston Bruins

Boston Hockey Now: Pierre-Luc Dubois has been a hot topic. he informed the Winnipeg Jets he wants a trade and won’t be signing there long-term. Since then, many have pegged Dubois as a fit for their club. Despite the desire to bring him on board, Boston Hockey Now has learned the Bruins don’t have what it takes to retrieve Dubois.

San Jose Sharks

San Jose Hocke Now: The NHL Draft Combine got underway this weekend. At the combine, San Jose Hockey Now learned that the Sharks could be leaning toward taking Will Smith fourth overall despite the favorable pick being Matvei Michkov. Reason being? He may or may not have taken the Tour de San Jose.

Montreal Canadiens

Montreal Hockey Now: An influx of defensemen in Columbus suddenly spells a crowded blueline. The Canadiens are in need and could be a match for Columbus to strike a trade. Could Montreal and Columbus strike a Kirby Dach-like deal for Adam Boqvist?

Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo Hockey Now: The Sabres are locked in at the 13th overall selection in the 2023 NHL Draft. At the Scouting Combine, they have their sights set on a couple of players, however, one draws a familiar comparison. Matthew Wood, the youngest player to play in the NCAA this season, has drawn comparison to Buffalo’s leading scorer Tage Thompson.
