Devils Daily: Devils Trade Target Moved Elsewhere

Right before the drop of the puck on Thursday, news broke that a New Jersey Devils trade target was moved elsewhere.

The Calgary Flames sent defenseman Nikita Zadorov to the Vancouver Canucks for what sounds like a bargain.

In exchange for the 6-foot-6 defenseman, the Flames acquired a fifth-round pick in 2024 and a third-round pick in 2026.

Colleague Trevor Neufeld has more on last night’s trade at Calgary Hockey Now.

As for the Devils, after expressing heavy interest in Zadorov, one has to wonder why general manager Tom Fitzgerald didn’t pull the trigger for such a low price. Regardless, other assets in Calgary can be acquired and it’s suspected Fitzgerald and Flames GM Craig Conroy keep open communication lines after New Jersey acquired Tyler Toffoli.

Elsewhere, Jack heads to MetLife Stadium to hang with Eli Manning, Miles Wood is drawing praise in Colorado, and reasons for San Jose’s turnaround.

Let’s do that hockey.
