Devils Daily: Trade Deadline Fallout; Linus Ullmark Nixes Deal

The NHL Trade Deadline has come and gone. New Jersey Devils General Manager Tom Fitzgerald certainly opted for a shake-up. He wasn’t quite a seller, but he exported some pieces. He wasn’t quite a buyer, but he imported some as well. More on that in the links.

We’ll speak with interim head coach Travis Green at 10 P.M. ahead of the Devils’ 12:30 puck drop vs. the Carolina Hurricanes.

Elsewhere, NHL Trade Deadline fallout, San Jose lost their captain, and a major trade that didn’t happen.

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils had a busy NHL Trade Deadline. Tyler Toffoli and Colin Miller were sent to the Winnipeg Jets, Vitek Vanecek was sent to San Jose in exchange for Kaapo Kahkonen, and brought in Jake Allen from the Montreal Canadiens as well.

More NJHN: General manager Tom Fitzgerald explained he’d be open to bringing Tyler Toffoli back in the summer as a free agent after moving him to Winnipeg.

Sportsnet: Here are the NHL Trade Deadline winners and losers according to Sportsnet.

Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Everyone knew the Pittsburgh Penguins were going to trade Jake Guentzel. However, no one thought Michael Bunting would be going the other way, including Bunting.

Boston Bruins: The biggest trade deadline news for the Boston Bruins is what didn’t happen. Goaltender Linus Ullmark reportedly nixed a deal to send him to a Western Conference team.

San Jose Hockey Now: Just hours after the San Jose Sharks learned they were trading a fan favorite away unexpectedly, the Sharks faithful also learned captain Logan Couture‘s season is done.

Vegas Hockey Now: Speaking of that fan favorite, Vegas Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon acquired talented forward Tomas Hertl from the Sharks in a blockbuster deal.

Philly Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers announced Friday afternoon that the team had traded a 2024 fourth-round pick in exchange for veteran Buffalo Sabres defenseman Erik Johnson.

Nashville Hockey Now: The Nashville Predators made the perfect low-cost, low-risk acquisition in Jason Zucker, NHN’s Michael Gallagher says.

Buffalo Hockey Now: The Buffalo Sabres traded their captain away, sending Kyle Okposo to the Florida Panthers.
