In a Metropolitan Division that is largely up for grabs, many are turning to the New Jersey Devils amid a strong string as favorites. The Devils have been here before and squandered it, but something about this one feels different.

For example, just look at the praise from Sheldon Keefe. He’s hard to crack, so when he’s giving it, it’s my own fault.

More on the Devils’ top guys below.

Elsewhere, the New York Rangers’ silver lining, Chicago top rookie recalled vs. Devils, and is the “Yzerplan dead?”

Let’s do that hockey.

Devils News

New Jersey Hockey Now: Head coach Sheldon Keefe compares Jack Hughes to Toronto Maple Leafs Mitch Marner as the Devils superstar continues to evolve his game.

More NJHN: The Chicago Blackhawks will have Frank Nazar, their top prospect, make his season debut against the Devils. Here’s what to expect.

Even More: Until recently, the Devils’ most veteran forward wasn’t showing up very often on the scoresheet. Now, Ondrej Palat has been a big reason for the team’s recent success.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now

DailyFaceoff: Anthony Di Marco brings up a good point. For 25 years, the Detroit Red Wings were the model for consistency. Now? Perhaps that still rings true… for being consistently bad. Is it time to declare the “Yzerplan” a failure?

Forever Blueshirts: Not all that much if going well for the New York Rangers this season. However, one of their young guns is providing a silver lining, making the most of his opportunity.

Chicago Hockey Now: From the Blackhawks’ perspective, here’s why calling up Nazar was the right move for their top prospect, and why now.

NYI Hockey Now: For the second time this season, the New York Islanders have placed forward Pierre Engvall on waivers. He’s got five years remaining on his contract. However, that wasn’t the only player waived, as former first-round puck Oliver Wahlstrom hit the wire as well. Are the Isles about to get two key players back?
