Devils Daily: A Welcomed Return, Devils Prospect Invited to WJC Camp

December means the World Junior’s tournament is right around the corner. Some teams have begun to roll out their preliminary rosters. The New Jersey Devils are stacked with talent in the pipeline, so naturally, they’ve already seen some invitations extended to their prospects. We’ll take a look at who in the links.

Further within New Jersey, it looks like we’ll get a welcomed return on Tuesday in Vancouver, the Devils’ head coach is honest about his team’s current state, and a few words on three brothers facing off in the NHL in the same game for the first time.

Elsewhere, other prospects are invited to World Junior camps and a long-anticipated debut with a new team.

Let’s do that hockey.

New Jersey Devils

New Jersey Hockey Now: The Devils haven’t quite been themselves this season. They’ve been giving up a lot of goals as opposed to last season where they were pretty tight defensively. So what’s changed? Head coach Lindy Ruff says they’re “disrespecting the game.”

More NJHN: Devils prospect Seamus Casey is invited to Team USA’s camp ahead of the World Junior’s tournament at the end of this month.

NHL.com: It looks like Erik Haula, who traveled with the Devils to Vancouver, is set to return to the lineup tonight. It’s certainly a welcomed return.

More NHL.com: Something Quinn, Jack, and Luke Hughes thought about their entire lives was playing in an NHL game against each other. Tonight, the three brothers will do so for the first time when the Devils take on the Canucks in Vancouver.

Here’s a fun conversation with the parents of Quinn, Jack, and Luke. Jim and Ellen Hughes open up about watching their sons all play in the NHL.

Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago Hockey Now: The downside to a rebuild is that you’re not very competitive at the NHL level. The upside is there’s a plethora of talent in the pipeline if you rebuild the right way. The Hawks are doing just that. As a result, they have four of their prospects on an invite to the World Junior tournament.

Calgary Flames

Calgary Hockey Now: If it’s not one thing in Calgary, it’s another. Flames goaltender, Jacob Markstrom, injured his hand pretty badly during practice.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: The World Junior preliminary rosters have begun to drop. Flyers Cutter Gauthier is, in fact, set to represent Team USA later this month.

Detroit Red Wings

Detroit Hockey Now: We’ll finally see Patrick Kane debut with the Red Wings this week. Unfortunately, it won’t be at home in front of Detroit’s fans.

Montreal Canadiens

Montreal Hockey Now: The Canadiens have a handful of talented prospects that could be headed to the World Junior tournament later this month. Here’s who could represent their country from the Montreal pipeline.
