NJHN Daily: Devils Negotiating; Pair of Forwards on NHL Trade Mill; Hart Speaks

The vibes are high right now, and perhaps that’s why everyone wants to stay with the New Jersey Devils. It’s been a good start to the season, which is part buy-in over the summer on the vision, which led to extensions like Jake Allen remaining for five more seasons. But, also for outsiders to see what the potential is on the ice.
It’s also why their pending free agent goaltender wants to stay long-term, and that’s a conversation that’s currently happening.
Elsewhere, Carter Hart—back in the NHL—offers his first comments since he was acquitted, a trade chip in Philly, and another on Broadway.
Let’s do that hockey.
Devils Trade Rumors & News
New Jersey Hockey Now: Say what you want about the Florida Panthers limping into the Prudential Center amid a bevy of injuries, but if the Devils play the way they did against the Cats every night, it’s not going to matter who is on the other side of the ice. Inside an excellent 3-1 win in their home opener.
More NJHN: Just before the puck dropped in Newark last night, the insiders disclosed some new information about the Jacob Markstrom negotiations. Before, we knew a $5 million average annual value might be a bit too low for Markstrom. Now, we know both sides are determined to figure out a “long-term” deal. That probably shouldn’t be surprising. More info inside on this.
NJ.com: Good scoop here from my buddy, Ryan Novozinsky. The Devils’ MSG broadcast team is adding ex-Devils, Mike Rupp and Cory Schneider.

NHL Trade Talk, News, & National Hockey Now
Vegas Hockey Now: We’ve been hearing whispers about it for a while now, and yesterday, it became official. Carter Hart is joining the Vegas Golden Knights. The 2018 Hockey Canada acquitted goaltender say’s he’s looking forward to a fresh start. In fact, Mark Stone and Co. explained they’re looking forward to welcoming him to their “culture.”
Pittsburgh Hockey Now: Okay, here’s kind of a funky question. Is Kyle Dubas’ plan backfiring for the Pittsburgh Penguins? I mean, they’re supposed to stink. But, they’re pretty good (so far)! Ummm, or is it right on target? I mean, after all, the core veterans are all still there.
Philly Hockey Now: Some of the most interesting rumors lately are coming out of Philly. Owen Tippett’s name has been murmured on the NHL trade rumor mill. Would the Philadelphia Flyers entertain moving the scoring forward?
Forever Blueshirts: The New York Rangers finally did it. They scored a goal on home ice. Yet, still lost in overtime on Thursday. However, that’s not what we’re here to talk about. Instead, we’re here to talk about the possibility they could be trading one of their young scoring prospects, former first round pick, Brennan Othmann could be on the move.
Don’t need Othman or Tippet. We’ve got plenty of Wings. We need a Center. Halonen looked way more comfortable last night. Noesen is almost back. Lenni & LaChance are developing. Gritsyuk looks like the real deal. Thank God we’ve haven’t had any C injuries so far. These 1st 10 games are an extremely important stretch of games. We won’t have another stretch this difficult plus all of the other reasons why starting strong is so important
